ABOUT

  • Jim Little

    Jim Little

Jim and Marcia Little opened Little’s in July of ’77. They transformed what was a little corner pharmacy, into a temporary plant shop and finally a full service beer, spirits and wine store. A few years later, he bought the building, made drastic renovations with his father and completed what is now known as Little’s Building West. Jim’s passion for wine and beer has never wavered. In fact, it has only grown more intense, as he has had the opportunity to create so many relationships with winemakers all over the world. He is never too busy for a friendly drink or a Rockies game.

    (That’s Jim with his dad.)

    DJ

DJ has been here since the very beginning–that’s right, July of ’77. He has seen a lot of changes, from an extensive remodel in the mid-80′s, to the corny beer model pin-ups in the late ’80′s. DJ has watched this place evolve along with culture’s taste. Once a domestic beer corner stop to what is now an exceptional shop for boutique wine and beer from around the world, he has seen Little’s grow to fit its neighborhood’s beverage needs. Not only passionate about wine and beer, DJ is also an avid hunter, chef and holds a sailplane license.

    Ashley Hausman

Originally from Wisconsin, Ashley moved to Colorado to hike and climb mountains as soon as she had a B.A. in hand. Quickly she learned, she needed to find a career. So she went back to grad school to get her PhD in English & American Literature, beginning with a Masters at New York University.

A few long papers, a thesis and a masters degree later, she found wine was not only an incredible way to enhance Derridean studies, but it had its own story to tell: of regions, soils, cultures and farming. While Woolf still had her heart, Burgundy was creeping in…

She decided to postpone the PhD and go for the plunge. Now, she manages Little’s Wine & Spirits near the University of Denver. She orders by day, sips and tells all in her blog by night, and runs private wine parties in between in addition to giving advice on cellar building, wine vacations and food pairing. It’s a passion that grows only more complex with every passing vintage.

    John Panek

John Paneck, Beer Manager, has been in the beverage industry probably longer than your grandma’s been drinking White Zinfandel. Working in the mountains and the city, wholesale and retail, beer and wine, he is a great resource if you have any particular questions on beer styles, wine regions, vinification, you name it.

Never taking himself too seriously, Panek is genuinely passionate about beer and wine… and he genuinely loves to assist people with their decisions. He has been at Little’s for about 5 years and just about single-handedly established the magnificent beer cave as we know it today.
